Marc O’Polo celebrates simplicity with a new campaign for Spring 2020.
Founded in Stockholm and now based in Germany, the brand approaches casual wear with serious dedication. Their designs are simple but feature high attention to detail and intentional sourcing of organic materials. The new campaign highlights this sense of organic simplicity and freedom.
Photographer Mikael Jansson sets his models against the backdrop of a limestone or marble quarry. The expansive white rawness of this setting allows him to play with our sense of foreground and background: some of the black-and-white images appear like simple studio portraits against a plain backdrop, while others, especially those with color, bring out the natural details and patterns of the mineral. In the relationships between body and clothing, natural resource and industry, we can feel a conversation between humanity and the natural world.
Straightforward but very well executed visually, the campaign shows a thoughtful brand in touch with its own principles. With a light touch, it subtly affirms Marc O’Polo’s commitment to freedom of movement and sustainability, while remaining visually engaging and evocative.
