Celebrated in the past for its original prints and colors, Marimekko put forth a display of its cool new styles for its fresh Fall 2018 home collection in a private penthouse located in Helsinki.
The Finnish design house found inspiration for its latest collection from the frosty aesthetic of Finland and Lapland’s exotic ambiance. Displayed in the collection is Marimekko’s art of print making embodied in a dialogue between featured prints: modern contemporary folklore inspired prints designed by the youthful print designers Sanna Annukka, Paavo Halonen, and Maija Louekari. Also incorporated into the prints are the soft yet graphical iconic archive patterns crafted by Maija Isola and Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi in the 1960s and 1970s.
Alluding to the wintry, exotic atmosphere from which the design house drew inspiration, the styles of the collection features many earthy tones such as snowy whites, deep blues and reds, as well as naturalistic greens. Also seen apparent in the collection are elements of wood and flower motifs.
