Martin Margiela will be featured in a documentary by London film company Dogwoof entitled “Without Compromise.” The elusive Belgian designer has long shied away from the camera, having never been officially photographed, has offered is cooperation. The story will trace his influential career and foundation of the Maison Margiela fashion house in a fashion-meets-film project set for a 2019 release.

Margiela become renowned for his deconstructive and avant-garde designs that were often shown with model’s faces obscured to reflect his own view on anonimity. The designer left the house he founded after 20 years at the helm in 2009, with no new creative designer spearheading the house until John Galliano joined in 2014.

The film is being directed by Reiner Holzemer, whose previous work includes “Dries,” the documentary about designer Dries Van Noten.

Dogwoof has courted the fashion industry before. It managed sales for Lorna Tucker’s “Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist,” a film about Vivienne Westwood.
