Spring 2021 Ad Campaign

Review of Michael Kors Collection Spring 2021 Ad Campaign by Photographers Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin with models Hiandra Martinez & Rebecca Longendyke

Michael Kors Collection celebrates the beauty of green in a new Spring 2021 campaign. Lensed by photography duo Inez & Vinoodh, Hiandra Martinez, and Rebecca Longendyke model the collection in its natural habitat at the New York Restoration Project Bronx Community Garden.

The importance of urban green spaces, and the work that New York Restoration
Project does to bring them to all five boroughs in New York has become even more
important during the pandemic. No matter where we live, we all crave nature, and the joy of watching spring come to life is always reaffirming. The campaign focuses on the juxtaposition of the city with nature, and on the way that gardens can provide a reprieve from the edge of an urban landscape.

Martinez and Longendyke exude an energy that is both ethereal and earthy. Amid the blooming garden they sit confidently with legs apart, suggesting the creative power of Mother Nature. Yet the buildings of the Bronx linger in the background of each shot, reminding us of a constant relationship with contemporary urban society. Thus the images capture a life lived in harmony, a dynamic balance and interdependence of nature, city, and self.

Restful and rejuvenating, the campaign is a lovely little reminder to recognize the importance of our connection to nature, no matter where we may be.
