For their Spring 2018 Miu Miu ad campaign, Miuccia Prada and team went back to the future and headed to the desert city of Arcosanti to get their archeology on.
Located a few hours outside of Phoenix Arizona, Arcosanti is the brainchild of Italian architect Paolo Soleri, a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright. Blending architecture with ecology to form archeology, Soleri set off to build the city of the future in 1970 on 25 acres of a 4,00 acre land reserve. With the goal of indistinguishable living and work spaces merged with the natural environment, the city has evolved over the years to become the home of 80 permanent residents, most of whom are employed by the Soleri’s non-profit Cosanti Foundation to help maintain and expand the premises.
Creative Director Giovanni Bianco of GB65 and lensman Alasdair McLellen took talents Elle Fanning, Oumie Jammeh, Adwoa Aboah, Olivia Anakwe, Edie Campbell, Faith Lynch, Rianne von Rompaey, and Cameron Russell on site to enjoy the world of archeology. Toss in some colorful flags, an airstream, a few colorful lawn chairs and mix it up with the dynamic architecture, desert props, and Arizona sunlight and voila, ‘Return to Arcosanti.’
Harmony not only with nature, but also one another.
