Model Moments, Ira Sumbaeva – The Impression Talks to the Talent in Front of the Lens

Name | Ira Sumbaeva
AgencyMuse Models NYC
Age | 23
Height | 5’9″
Hometown | Brest, Belarus

How were you discovered?
I was always curious about beauty and fashion and heard of a modeling school opening nearby, so I went to go check it out. I later was scouted by my mother agency from Nagorny Models and here we are.

If you weren’t modeling, what career would you pursue?
Since I was a child I’ve always had creative hobbies. I finished music school, dancing classes, drawing, so I guess I would find myself in the creative field.

What are your guilty food pleasures?
Honestly, there’s so many because I love food haha! But one of my favorites is Syrniki garnished with condense milk or jam. It’s a fried cottage cheese pancake, which is a very traditional breakfast in Belarus. I have to ask my mom to make it for me the next time I come home!

What do you carry with you at all times during fashion week?
Water, lip balm, a snack, and a good book to make myself busy during the long hours of waiting.

What is your go to Off-Duty Style?
I steal my boyfriend’s clothes! He can’t stand it, but I feel the most comfortable in them.

What was your favorite location you’ve gone to for a job and why?
Right now I’m very excited about my upcoming trip to Buenos Aires! I cannot tell if it will be my favorite location yet, but I am sure it will be very beautiful. I love tango and red wine, so I am very confident this city will not disappoint.

What creative director and photographer would you like to work with?
There are so many incredibly talented people in this industry and I have a long list of people that I would love to work with. To name a few, I’m a big fan of David Sims, Harley Weir, and Fabien Baron.

What is your best model memory to date?
Probably Paris Fashion Week. I got to see so many of my friends from around the world. It was like a global reunion! Everybody was also happy to be in the last city of the fashion week madness.

What would be your advice to models walking the runway for the first time?
Don’t be nervous. Just have fun and enjoy it!

What kind of Impression do you want to make?
I am a happy, energetic person and am always myself in any situation. So I hope I make the impression to always stay true to who you are.
