The luxury of the suburban plight was referenced for Nordstrom’s spring 2020 ad campaign lensed by photographer Renell Medrano.
Nordstrom VP of Creative Projects, Olivia Kim, has both the advantage and disadvantage of promoting designer collections such as Area, Cecilie Bahnsen, Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Ganni, Gucci, Jeffrey Campbell, Madewell, Marine Serre, Molly Goddard, Nike, Oscar De La Renta, Richard Quinn, Saint Laurent, Simone Rocha, Sophie Buhai, Valentino and more. The advantage comes in that she has a great range to work with, the disadvantage is that there is no unifier like a singular designer vision, plus her collection is culled down edit from the buyer, thus devoid of the loss leaders of drama from the runway.
To unify this season the casting of models Eniola Abioro, Hiandra Martinez, Zoe Thaets, and Lineisy Montero set the tone set within a luxurious suburban scene by set designer Lauren Nikrooz. The tone is a blend of the upbeat elements from Sophia Coppola’s 1999 The Virgin Suicide’s crossed with the community of Little Women. Overall is a straightforward and visually engaging campaign that checks a number of boxes but doesn’t push any boundaries to draw the greatest luxury of all, attention.
