Review of Paco Rabanne ‘Ciao Paco’ Summer 2021 Ad Campaign by Photographer Robin Galiegue with model Emmy Rappe
Paco Rabanne gives us a dreamy vision of summertime escape with a campaign that highlights the house’s new summer capsule. Cheekily titled “Ciao Paco,” the campaign features photography by Robin Galigue and direction by Rasa Juskeviciute.
The summer capsule seems perfectly tuned to this moment of summertime re-emergence. It provides a healthy hit of nostalgia with its tie-dye and floral patterns and 70’s sportswear-inspired detailing. Meanwhile, the body conscious knitwear and mix-and-matchability seem primed for our recently discovered, post-lockdown style quirks. Pieces are finished off with irreverent sloganeering that tap into the urge of escapism.
A the collection has such a strong sense of personality, Galigue’s photographic work doesn’t have to reach too far to communicate its eccentrically stylish summertime spirit. He captures model Emmy Rappe – sporting the defining hair of the past couple seasons, a DIY lockdown fringe cut – with her toes in the sand as she stands before a sepia-toned sunset. The imagery is quite simple, but it works hard to capture that elusive feeling of a summer day slipping into memory.
At once hazily nostalgic and crisply contemporary, the campaign is a stylish daydream of an unforgettable summer.
