Review of Paco Rabanne Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Paco Rabanne Creative Director Julien Dossena and Director Albert Moya with actor Adèle Exarchopoulos
Paco Rabanne finds the beauty in adventure and isolation with a new film campaign for Fall 2021. The brand’s creative director Julien Dossena created the campaign in collaboration with director Albert Moya and actress Adèle Exarchopoulos.
Taking its cue from the Fall collection’s dreamy, fair-tale glamor, the campaign imagines an atmospheric road trip through the French countryside. With just a few small hints of an open-ended plot line, the narrative follows Adèle – who seems to be escaping from the past – through lush scenery of forests, meadows, and old villas. Stitching together an evocative collage of image and emotion, the film moves between beats of yearning and catharsis – an appropriate moodboard for this season’s return to life.
The campaign doesn’t offer much in terms of new conceptual or visual ideas, but its gorgeous cinematography is enough to buoy its familiar narrative approach. The aesthetics are also a strong choice to harmonize with and elevate the opulently romantic character of the collection, translating the mesmerizing glitter of its jewels and gold into a space for euphoria and reflection.
