Review of Pinko Spring 2022 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Riccardo Ruini with Photographer Brianna Capozzi with model Irina Shayk
Irina Shayk is larger than life in a dreamy and mirage-like new campaign for Pinko. The Spring 2022 campaign features creative direction from Riccardo Ruini with photographer Brianna Capozzi capturing the iconic model.
The campaign combines digital production and amazingly detailed diorama artwork by set designer Peter Klein to create the setting of a dreamy and dusty desert town in miniature. Fiercely dressed in the collection’s animal-print numbers, Shayk towers over this scene like a sexy giantess: she leans against a roadside diner, dips a finger into the motel pool, blocks traffic on the two-lane highway. In a fun meta-moment, she dwarfs a billboard that has her own image, posing in this very campaign, plastered across it.
While the concept is playful and silly, there is a sincere attention to the lighting and coloration of the imagery – particularly the gorgeously shifting gradients of the desert sky – that makes them quite beautiful.
Matching a brilliant and unique visual concept with gorgeous image production and the kind of big-cat energy that only a supermodel could summon, the campaign is an intoxicating vision of larger-than-life femininity and power.
