Ritual Projects’ Robin Meason Moves To Balenciaga, While Bourgis Moves Back To “The Underground”
Olivier Bourgis’ OBCM agency is set to acquire Robin Meason’s Ritual Projects on May 1st. While no financial terms have been disclosed, there is plenty that is known about this acquisition.
The PR firm operated out of Paris, Ritual Projects is best know for its instrumental role in promoting and establishing underground brands like Vetements, Y/Project, Ottolinger, and GmbH. Ritual Projects was founded and led by Meason, who is a native of the great state of Texas. She will be leaving after the acquisition to become the Worldwide PR Director for Balenciaga.
I’m very pleased that Ritual Projects will continue with a like-minded spirit such as Olivier. His expertise in marketing, corporate strategies and experience in developing young designers, coupled with his humane approach to fashion, made this evolution feel like a natural fit. I’m excited for Ritual Projects to have Olivier’s leadership and reassuring, positive energy to create this new chapter.
– Robin Meason, Founder Ritual Projects, Worldwide PR Director of Balenciaga
Ritual Projects has been known for working with small, edgy brands that have taken a more underground route when it comes to PR. Meason played an essential role in making events like Vetements’ Fall 2015 show at sex club Le Dépôt possible. It is this very edge that Bourgis, who will be leading Ritual Projects after the acquisition, is excited about. OBCM has become a powerful, established agency that works with larger brands like Gap, Monki, Sandro, Marchon Eyewear, and Zalando; Bourgis misses the days where he was working directly with creators, where his creative vision and marketing know-how would have a tangible effect, where he would not simply be responsible for executing a predetermined strategy.
I am honored that Robin saw me as someone who could secure what she created and continue its evolution. My objective is to keep the identity of Ritual Projects intact through close contact with clients and the team in order to expand on the agency’s existing pillars.
– Olivier Bourgis, President and CEO OBCM
While there will be inevitable interplay between OCBM and Ritual Projects, Bourgis intends for the two PR firms to operate independently from one another. This commitment has led to 3 of Ritual Projects’ 4 employees and most of their clients declaring their intention to stay with the firm.
