Review of Prada Linea Rossa Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Ferdinando Verderi and Photographer Hugo Comte
Prada’s new campaign for its Linea Rossa sportswear line is a lesson in excellent branding. The Fall 2021 campaign features creative direction from Ferdinando Verderi and photography by Hugo Comte.
Starring international athletes from the worlds of basketball, ballet, skate, and parkour, the campaign imagery draws an impressive energy and dynamism from a very simple visual concept. The red line that forms the line’s name and logo makes a bold appearance across each of the neutral-toned compositions. As the athletes assume dynamic and expressive poses, they cross the red line that traverses the compositional space, creating a strong sense of depth and movement.
The imagery is an excellent way to communicate both literally and figuratively – in the sense of crossing the line, going beyond – the meaning of the collection’s logo. The campaign is thus an impressive exercise in thinking about how to use established brand assets, in this case something as simple as a red line, to convey identity and power.
