Spring 2021 Ad Campaign

Review of Prada Linea Rossa Spring 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Ferdinando Verderi with Photographer/Director Martine Syms

Prada celebrates the connection between athleticism and freedom in a slick new campaign for their Linea Rossa collection. Featuring creative direction from Ferdinando Verderi with film direction and photography by Martine Syms, the campaign brings the house’s iconic red line out into the world.

With crisp, technical lines and a futuristically focused color palette of white, grey, and black, the collection is tuned in to the body’s freedom of motion, elegantly marrying form and function. A unique group of multi-talented stars embodies this spirit for the campaign: singer-songwriter and rollerblader Cai Xu Kun; skateboarder, model, and community leader Briana King; actor and skateboarder Rachelle Vinberg; photographer and professional BMX rider Austin Augie; and Los Angeles local skateboarder Le’Andre Sanders.

Verderi transforms skateparks across the diverse terrains of Los Angeles and Shanghai through a smart use of literal red lines, creating a striking canvas for motion. Pulsing with kinetic energy, Syms’ camerawork – including stunning drone footage – beautifully conveys the athletic dynamism of the stars’ impressive physical feats.

Like the collection it so effectively highlights, the campaign is a striking visual statement of the power and beauty of the body in motion.
