Not just for skiing, puffer coats define the outerwear trends of Fall 2021
If you were worried about being chilly this Fall/Winter season, fear not: today’s top fashion designers have you covered (literally). Puffer jackets abound on the ready-to-wear runways of Fall 2021. While the modern puffer-jacket-as-high-fashion trend was first kicked off by Moncler, it’s safe to say that the piece is now a staple of contemporary fashion, owned by none yet loved by all.
From streetwear practicality to couture pretension, the voluminous article rears its puffy head in just about every context, and we’re loving the ways in which designers get creative with it.
Dolce & Gabbana share maximalist puffer jackets in a range of eye-popping colors and patterns, from metallics and rainbows to animal prints. Lacoste and Fila remind us that puffers are, after all, sportswear. Marni reconsiders what a jacket can be, refiguring the material into draped, shawl-like looks.
