Marcus Wainwright admits that he may not have the eye to create a photograph, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying. The CEO, Founder and Creative Director of rag & bone fell in love with photography after buying a Leica camera, and even gave Leica cameras to friends Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish to take photographs of each other for the rag & bone Spring 2018 eyewear campaign.

Wainwright showed Leica how much he appreciates their products by designing a special ‘Stealth Edition’ of the Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) camera.

Launching on March 20, the new camera features several components of other Leica cameras on a matte black body with jet-black cowhide leather trim and glow-in-the-dark accents, all of which represent the camera’s name.

Since Wainwright is an enthusiast of black-and-white photography, the M Monochrom has a black-and-white sensor and retains all of the original M Monochrom features, such as the Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH lens, an ultra-quiet shutter release, and bright viewfinder and range finder.

“For me the Leica M system personifies the pursuit of perfection in an object designed for a singular purpose. Inspired by that, I was aiming to try and further refine and perfect the M Monochrom – an almost impossible task – by distilling it to its purest form and highlighting the stealth nature of the camera and lens,” Wainwright said.

The Leica M Monochrom ‘Stealth Edition’ is limited to just 125 sets worldwide, and each has a distinctive serial number.
