Luca Guadagnino, Academy Award-nominated director of Call Me by Your Name, transports you to the French Riviera for a unique boutique experience.
Redemption, the luxury fashion brand founded five years ago upon Gabriele Moratti’s unique philanthropic vision – to donate 50% of profits to charity – has already given 2 million euros to international NGOs to that end. A modern-day Robin Hood of fashion that believes in harnessing the power of business to create social change, Redemption is also committed to paying fair wages, sustainable practices and materials, and minimizing the environmental impact and carbon footprint.
Fresh off his recent showing in Paris, Redemption is opening its first flagship store in Soho, curated by Luca Guadagnino, Academy Award-nominated director and producer of critically acclaimed films such as Call Me by Your Name, I Am Love, The Protagonists, andSuspiria. This is the director’s first design collaboration on a fashion project, and it is as thoughtfully layered and nuanced as his atmospheric movies. In keeping with Bebe Moratti’s passion for music and channeling of the rock star attitude for the house, Guadagnino took inspiration from images of the Rolling Stones recording an album in the Cote D’Azur in the 70s. He explains, “We conjured up the flair of rock-and-roll that melds with this timeless elegance of interiors. We came up with the idea of a boudoir apartment that for the customer communicates an intimacy in the experience.”
His adaptation of a French Riviera home for the New York boutique transports you from the bustle of the city into Redemption’s world of beauty and grace. Besides the dramatic eyecatchers such as the glass chandelier in the entrance or the skylight in the lounge that frames a view of the New York skyline, the devil is in the artisanal details, such as the three-dimensional ceiling pattern or the rose pattern (another rock-n-roll reference) on the wood wall paneling developed by French digital artist Nigel Peake and handcrafted by Venetian woodworkers. With fitting rooms the size of some New York City bedrooms and bespoke VIP suites for haute couture clients, Redemption promises a truly indulgent experience, though not at the cost of your conscience, for this sustainable and ethical fashion brand is designed to do good, look good and feel good.
A befitting setting to house their gorgeous clothes (see recent PFW SS20 show and our review). And if we know Bebe’s music taste, the soundtrack to the store is sure to be rockin’.
