Review of Rhude Spring 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Rhuigi Villaseño with Future
Future embodies the signature Rhude boy style for the buzzworthy menswear brand’s first-ever fashion campaign.
Hip hop is a foundational element of Rhude and founder and creative director Rhuigi Villaseñor’s story. The brand started with a single T-shirt, which Villaseñor had designed for himself with no intention of selling. But it quickly caught the attention of rappers Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar, and Villaseñor eventually gave Lamar the T-shirt, who wore it in an iconic appearance at the BET awards. Inspired and motivated by this success, Villaseñor soon launched Rhude and expanded from T-shirts into a whole line of clothing. His deft mix of streetwear and high fashion with an emphasis on tailoring and functionality quickly garnered the brand a large and famous following.
Thus a collaboration with a contemporary hip-hop music and fashion icon like Future – who has also been a prominent wearer of the brand – feels like a perfect move for its first-ever fashion campaign.
Future has been leading the pack musically and style wise. It was a perfect marriage of street meets high fashion. This also marks Future’s first ever fashion campaign as well as Rhude’s first ever global campaign.

The rapper is captured in straightforward studio photography, which allows both his personality and that of the collection’s – a mix of the brand’s spring and fall offerings for this year – to shine through. The results feel like a strong embodiment of the brand’s identity of streetsmart sophistication, thoughtfully geared to help the modern gentleman express himself wherever he may go.
