Saint Laurent Rive Droite Collaborates With Memphis To Celebrate 40 Years

Saint Laurent Launches Capsule Collection Alongside Memphis Exhibit

Saint Laurent’s Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello has collaborated with the Italian design & architecture group Memphis, for their 40th Anniversary. The latest project from Saint Laurent Rive Droite project culminates in an in-store exhibit that includes pieces from Memphis alongside a new capsule collection.

Memphis has become one of the leading names in the world of design, known for its signature style of Pop Art-inspired designs and bold use of color. The Saint Laurent Rive Droite exhibit showcases iconic pieces like their Ring bed designed by Masanori Umeda, which emulates an actual boxing ring, the Riviera chairs designed by Michele De Lucchi, and the Carlton room divider by Ettore Sottsass.

A large selection of homeware pieces, ceramic objects and textile accessories (ashtrays, vases, plates, glasses, decorations and textile accessories including pouches and scarves) will be on display. A selection of rare books representing the history and works of Memphis will also join the exhibit.

Vaccarello took inspiration from the design studio’s aesthetic of bold colors and geometric patterns of the 1980s to create an exclusive Saint Laurent capsule collection. These unique pieces combine classic models from Saint Laurent with the electric spirit of Memphis and include two multicolored checkerboard hoodies, two dresses, one shirt and two pairs of sneakers.

The exhibition will take place until June 23 in both Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles. You can also shop the collection of clothes, accessories, and homeware on Saint Laurent’s site.
