I want the principles of a timeless muse. Talkin’ ’bout some new sensations.
Lou Reed – New Sensations
Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent continues to stay ahead of the pack by understanding the value of new sensations. Releasing a teasing taste of the houses forthcoming Summer 2019 ad campaign while everyone else is still odroppingn Spring.
The campaign fully embraces the Saint Laurent’s heritage and sexuality through the lens of Juergen Teller. Models Freja Beha Erichsen and Mica Arganaraz play the role of uninhibited, aristocratic glamazons, fully basking in control of their erotic sensibilities.
Styled by Alastair McKimm, the campaign features the best ad for hoisey and footwear we’ve seen in years via a group shot of see-through nylons with YSL monogrammed on their ankles in bedazzled fashion. The images follow the houses’ recent collaboration with performance artist Vanessa Beecroft whose frozen-in-place females, often nude, is aligned with Vaccarello’s codes for the label.
Teller’s work is always enhanced when teaming with a creative director of vision and here the pairing works quite well, as does the Lake Como setting bring an air of aristocratic elevation to the pairing of the collection with daylight. The result is like a timeless muse, full of nude and new sensations.
