Character is something that every fashion house could use more of so it is a pleasure to see that newly appointed Salvatore Ferragamo Creative Director Paul Andrew has teamed with Trey Laid and company to released Salvatore Ferragamo’s Fall 2018 ad campaign appropriately titled ‘A Patchwork of Characters.’
Lensed by Harley Weir the latest campaign breathes life, laughter, and youth into the historical classical Italian house. Models Stella Tennant, Shanelle Nyasiase, Rianne Van Rompaey, Xiao Wen Ju, Piero Mendez, and Edoardo Sebastianelli are captured while explore an estate and surroundings in film that will accompany the campaign.
Weir deploys her realist’s eye and analogue authenticity to present an imagined house party whose guests hail from across the globe. The tone and coloration is reminiscent of heritage polaroids. The aesthetic houses new aesthetic, defined by Andrew in partnership with Menswear Design Director Guillaume Meilland, seems to be finding its footing. Laird + Partners gifts the campaign with a layout that reflects a broader lifestyle than accessories while supporting the bread and butter category with zoomed in looks. And while the logo hasn’t changed, under their fresh eyes it has never looked more modern or stronger.
“Curiosity, taste, and a breadth of vision – not a narrowness – is what counts today,” says Andrew. “I want Ferragamo to assert a distinctly special voice. The best way to do that is to be collaborative, inclusive and open – which is why I’m so excited to be working alongside talents like Guillaume (Meilland), Harley, and this powerful cast of models. Together we’ve found a harmony that truly reflects the bold and positive change that’s afoot at Salvatore Ferragamo.”
