Sofía Sanchez de Betak’s Chufy Launches Auction to Raise Funds for Doctors Without Borders
Since the global quarantine has given ‘homebound’ new meaning, Chufy’s founder Sofía Sanchez de Betak has taken the step to give ‘charity starts at home’ new meaning as well by launching an auction to support Doctors Without Borders.
To help the humanitarian charity during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond Sofía has reached out to her network to donate to a silent auction that launched today at w.32auctions.com/ALITTLESOMETHING.
“When you read shocking statistics like the 5.3 million children under the age of 5 who died of malnutrition in 2018, and then see the situation getting even worse with the arrival of the Coronavirus, you tell yourself you can’t just sit at home and be scared. You have to get up and try to do something.” – Sofía Sanchez de Betak
That something is her program to support Doctors Without Borders in both its fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic and with its long- term humanitarian missions which the virus has exacerbated.
The auction, which runs through Sunday the 19th, allows visitors to bid for unique artworks, experiences, and limited-edition luxury products, courtesy of Sofía’s close friends and partners.
Items to be auctioned include a Valentino Garavani Supervee shoulder bag by Maison Valentino, a rose gold double Repossi ring, RIMOWA x Dior hand case, unique signed sketch by Alber Elbaz, Byredo blueprint bag courtesy of Ben Gorham, a Fabien Baron print, a tennis racket signed by Maria Sharapova, a Norman Reedus self-portrait courtesy of the actor and his partner Diane Kruger, and a limited edition Pirate agent from the studio M/M Paris exhibition L’île au Trésor, and Sofia’s MET 2019 red carpet dress from Mango, among others.
Experiences during and post quarantine period are also included in the auction, such as a private tour of Polo player Nacho Figueras’ stables, a bespoke artwork by Andre Saraiva made live in your home, an intimate dinner for 8 guests by renowned chef Yann Nury, a front row ticket to the Jacquemus SS21 catwalk show, and a private DJ set by The Misshapes at your chosen private party in NYC.
