’70s color palettes
Spring’s 70s-inspired looks continue into fall with pieces including high-waisted flares, belted jackets and shearling vests, but kitsch, Wes Anderson-y palettes are also prominent. Think muddy browns paired with bright tomato, fuchsia and grape.
Max and Lubov Azria pulled inspiration directly from trips to the Baltic Coast, giving outerwear a folksy, bohemian vibe with colorful stitching and shearling sleeves, while a sportier combination was shown at Rachel Comey. At Honor, designer Giovanna Randall offered a more feminine take on the trend, with a whimsical deer and fauna embroidery featured on coats, separates and gowns.
Designers including Marisa Webb and Tome added a touch of modesty to mini skirts and tunics by layering them over sheer, lacy slips. Coach took the trend and reversed it, giving a gauzy midi skirt a built-in underpinning.
