Believe it or not, film cameras and disposables are back in style! In an age when technology is the most advanced it has ever been, millennials and younger are choosing the ‘old-fashioned’ route and have fallen in love with the classic appeal of a film camera and a nice developed image.
Tom Ford is playing right into that craving for retro and nostalgic aesthetics with their latest campaign. Complete with several photographs and a film, everything looks as if it was shot on a film camera. Tom Ford and photographer Adam Katz Sinding ingeniously designed this shoot as a nod to the simpler times, when virtual reality and constant noise didn’t rule our senses.
Taking inspiration from popular looks and trends of the past several decades, the fashion house has created a campaign that appeals to all ages. With this, the sleek black background compliments each monochrome outfit, allowing the designs to shine through.
Tom Ford deserves a round of applause. The brand has mastered simplicity, while never sacrificing the element of fun or letting go of what the people want to see. It’s calming to take a step backwards at a time when the world is rushing forwards, and Tom Ford and their portfolio of the tried and true allow us to do just that.
