THE IMPRESSION’S Picks for Key FASHION TRENDS SPRING 2017 | URBAN UTILITARIAN [hr align=”center” weight=”thick” style=”line”] BY VICTORIA KAMP & ERIKA THOMAS
From Diesel to Dior, utility ruled the runway for Spring 2017. Whether you choose to dress it up or dress it down, this trend can be worn for any occasion. The utilitarian trend is accompanied with deep hues of green, khaki, oversized yet tailored jackets, large pockets, bold buttons, and endless versatility. What stood out the most was the trench coat, a spring staple, reinvented in many forms. Short, long, tailored, loose, belts or buttons galore- each designer found a way to make the trench coat stand out in their collection.
Balmain highlighted the elegance of utilitarian with sheer forest green dresses and gold accessories. While Coach went for an edgier vibe, creating utility jackets embellished with fringe, patches, and large buttons. Diesel took a similar approach, incorporating lace up detail into their tops, bottoms, and shoes.
