Zayn Collaborates with Versace on Versus Capsule Collection

Ever since Zayn stepped onto the music scene in 2010, his style has been noticeably different, earning him the nickname of “Bradford Bad Boy” for his dark clothes, tattoos, periodic hair-dying, and overall mysterious air. Artistic Director Donatella Versace recognized this iconic style and appointed Zayn as Creative Director for a new collaboration with Versace’s diffusion line Versus for the capsule collection, ZAYN X VERSUS.
The collection is full of rough-and-tough British street wear with an emphasis on leather, lace-up, and customization of the “ZXV” capsule collection logo. With a palette of black, deep green, dusty rose, dark plum and interspersed flashes of red, the collection is the definitive combination between Zayn and the Versus tribe. The campaign images showcase Zayn himself and supermodel Bella Hadid (sister of Zayn’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid) in informal yet dim-lit settings and reminds of a more focused shot of Zayn’s music videos for “Still Got Time” and “BeFoUr.”
Bringing on Zayn to creative direct was a smart move on Versace’s part, as he is a long-standing public figure of the younger generation, easily recognized for his talent and style, and sure to draw in a new niche to the luxury Italian brand. This is not Zayn’s first brush with the fashion industry; in 2014 he was named British GQ’s Best Dressed Male and in January 2017 Zayn partnered with Italian shoemaker Giuseppe Zanotti on a capsule collection. Then in February 2017 he co-hosted the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s ‘Americans in Paris’ cocktail party during Paris Fashion Week.
The collection is now available on versusversace.com and will be available in stores June 28th with a launch at their New York boutique where a percentage of profits will be donated to charity.
