Summer 2020 Ad Campaign

Saint Laurent Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello has collaborated with Juergen Teller to create a Summer 2020 ad campaign set against geological elements of carved cliffs and laconic waters. Zoë Kravitz, Freja Beha Erichsen, Binx Walton, Aylah Peterson and Elise van Iterson provide the star power, and a lesser-known talent – a snake named Charlie Brown – makes a brief appearance as well.

Though Zoë Kravitz and the rest of the models look striking, the color palette is the most mesmerizing element of the campaign – as liquid, stone and sky provide a backdrop of azure, ocher, sienna, and off-white tones like skeletons that have been bleached in the desert sun, interacting enticingly the collection’s black textiles and gold embellishments. Juergen Teller is at the top of his game here, stepping beyond his usual point-and-shoot photography style to deliver a film with slow pans that compliment the vintage-sounding score. Teller’s finesse with color and the art direction by Vaccarello are what breathes life into the campaign, as the film’s leisurely pacing gives the viewer a chance to ease into (and then revel in) the visceral beauty, and the still photographs serve to function as a lasting memento.
