Review of Dunhill ‘Uniform’ Fall 2022 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Mark Weston and Photographer Scott Gallagher with models Malick Darbo, Tancrede Scalabre, Felix Cheong-MacLeod, Andrew Westermann, and Gaurav Sonawane
Dunhill explores the possibilities of personality behind quotidian style codes with its new campaign for Fall 2022, captured by photographer Scott Gallagher.
“This collection is a return to a certain discipline and tradition, yet there is always a simultaneous sense of British subversion within what we do and in the person who might wear dunhill. I wanted to represent that here.” – Mark Weston, dunhill Creative Director
Titled “Uniform,” the campaign explores contemporary British bourgeois dress codes through Dunhill’s nuanced, intellectual take on these formal styles. Setting headshots side-by-side with fuller portraits, Gallagher’s intimate imagery draws out the character and complexity behind the striking visage of each model.
The accompanying short film further emphasizes the conversation between subject and setting, creating a feeling of tension as these crisply dressed men wait, almost anxiously, among the prim and proper, though dated, appointments of a suburban London home.
Subtle yet direct, the campaign is a focused expression of Dunhill’s spirit of irreverent refinement.
