From quiet reconsiderations of classic menswear motifs to avant-garde reimaginings of the concept of masculine dressing, the runways were once again set on fire (in some cases, literally – it wouldn’t be a Rick Owens show without a good bit of smoke).
Amiri’s star continues to rise in Paris as the brand delivered another strong and excellently styled collection that layered soulful 70s tailoring and craft cuteness into its convincing take on modern menswear trends.
At Dior, the awesome futuristic set design gave way to a collection that saw Kim Jones dig into the house’s expansive archives, updating key tailoring motifs from its pre-menswear era for the modern man.
The unstoppable Rick Owens takes home the top spot with his at once gloomy and optimistic collection that reconsidered some of his signature motifs – architectural tailoring, draping and wrapping, and a monochrome black palette – to carve out an intimate and healing space within the darkness of modern life’s mechanisms of violence and alienation.
