Homme Plissé Issey Miyake Debuts Wind-Inspired Collection at Fashion Show
The Homme Plissé Issey Miyake design team recently unveiled their latest collection, drawing inspiration from the essence of wind and its various attributes. According to the team, the collection seeks to embody the nature and qualities of wind, as well as everything associated with air in motion.
Continuing on their design process, the team delved into phenomena triggered by wind, the patterns it creates in nature, and the crafts and designs that interact with wind. By exploring these different perspectives on the theme of wind, the team aimed to craft clothing that deeply resonates with this element.
For instance, elements from a kite’s structure and a parachute’s construction were integrated into the design of some garments within the collection. Combined with graceful and wearable pieces, these elements prompted the collection’s name, “Up, Up and Away,” as showcased in the spring lineup.
The collection featured lightweight, sheer, signature pleated fabrics that complemented the billowing, layered silhouettes. Various pieces sported looks like a “windswept plaid” in vibrant color combinations and unique designs.
To enhance the fashion show’s setup, the design team collaborated with Vincent de Belleval to create an intricate scenography featuring tall sculptures with slatted, bulbous tops that moved gently as models strutted along the runway, creating a dynamic visual narrative.
