Byredo Launches Desert Dawn

Campaign Captures the Shifting Sands of Creativity in the Maspalomas Dunes

Byredo has unveiled its latest fragrance, Desert Dawn, drawing inspiration from the desert as a metaphorical and literal landscape. The campaign, set against the backdrop of the Maspalomas Dunes in the Canary Islands, features portraits of Cherokee Jack, captured by Amazonian-born photographer Rafael Pavarotti. The shifting sands of the dunes symbolize the dynamic interplay between nature’s constancy and the transformative power of change.

Desert Dawn is envisioned as a representation of the desert as an internal space—a place within the mind where creativity can flourish. It reflects the ebb and flow of imagination, akin to the ever-changing patterns formed by the desert winds. Just as dunes shift with their own rhythm, the creative process is non-linear, with new ideas emerging unpredictably, much like the dawn.

The fragrance captures this concept through a blend of olfactory contrasts. It opens with the sweet spice of Cardamom and Rose Petals, evoking the warmth of the desert. The heart of the scent is rooted in the earthy notes of Sandalwood, Cedarwood, and Carrot Seeds, creating a powerful and powdery core. The base lingers with the rich smokiness of Vetiver and Silk Musk, balanced by the fresh, crisp scent of Papyrus.

“Cherokee Jack resonates with the artistic process of photography himself, as a ‘format for expression,’ often traveling with a medium format camera to capture moments and places that are inspiring to him,” Byredo noted.

Desert Dawn will be available from September 5, 2024, at Byredo.com, Byredo stores, and select retailers.
