The Collection Features Five Fragrances Inspired by Cross-Cultural Exchange and a Unique Sustainable Design
Bottega Veneta has announced its first fragrance collection under the direction of Creative Director Matthieu Blazy. The collection takes inspiration from the brand’s heritage and its connection to Venice, where Bottega Veneta originated. Central to the collection’s concept is the brand’s signature leather weave, the Intrecciato, and Venice’s historical role as a center of cross-cultural trade.
Blazy designed each of the five fragrances to reflect a blend of ingredients from different regions around the world. Mirroring the way Venice historically connected various cultures, these perfumes incorporate 100% natural essences from different countries and continents, creating unique, global scents. “Just as Venice long bridged influences from North and South, East and West, this olfactory Intrecciato tells a global story,” the brand explains.
The collection includes five fragrances, each with its own distinct composition. Colpo di Sole combines French Angelica oil with Moroccan orange blossom for a warm, Mediterranean-inspired scent. Come with Me mixes Italian bergamot with French orris butter for a fresh, elegant fragrance. Acqua Sale blends Spanish labdanum with Macedonian juniper, evoking the smell of saltwater. Déjà Minuit pairs Madagascar geranium with Guatemalan cardamom for a sophisticated and spicy scent. Finally, Alchemie brings together Brazilian pink pepper and Somali myrrh, resulting in a rich, opulent fragrance.
Since becoming Creative Director, Blazy has focused on the tactile qualities of Bottega Veneta’s designs, which is reflected in the approach to the fragrance collection. “In that same spirit, each of these five fragrances reveal their full subtlety and depth in contact with the wearer’s skin,” the brand says. As wearers go about their day, the fragrances adapt to their movements and personal scent, adding an individualized dimension to each perfume.
The bottles in this collection are also designed with craftsmanship in mind. Made from translucent glass, they feature an organic, flowing shape that reflects both the lagoon environment of Venice and the leatherwork for which Bottega Veneta is known. The design also incorporates air bubbles, created through an innovative production process that mimics the look of Murano glassblowing. “Typically considered imperfections, Blazy here makes a feature of the air bubbles, creating a series of individually unique bottles,” Bottega Veneta states.
Each bottle is placed on a base made from Verde Saint Denis marble, a material used in Blazy’s store designs. This marble base adds an architectural element to the bottle, recalling the stone facades of Venetian buildings. The wooden cap of the bottle is inspired by the wooden foundations that support Venice’s structures, while the cap’s colors and the engraved metallic ring around it are influenced by modern Venetian design.
Sustainability was a key focus in the design process. The bottle is refillable and made with 0% plastic, using sustainable materials throughout. Each element, from the marble base to the glass bottle, is intended to reflect Bottega Veneta’s commitment to both craft and environmental responsibility.
