The Foemr Exec Was Arrested by the FBI on Sex Trafficking and Prostitution Charges in Florida
Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries was arrested by the FBI on sex trafficking and interstate prostitution charges, along with two associates, Matthew Smith and James Jacobson, in West Palm Beach, Fla. The arrests come after a BBC investigation last fall.
The investigation revealed gatherings held at various locations, including Jeffries’ former home in the Hamptons and hotels in London, Morocco, and France between 2009 and 2015. Jacobson, who allegedly recruited men for these events, was arrested in Wisconsin.
Jeffries stepped down as CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch in 2014 after a 22-year tenure. The company has not commented on the allegations or offered support to those affected.
An attorney for Smith stated they will address the allegations in court, while attorney Brad Edwards, representing some accusers, did not respond to media inquiries. The U.S. attorney’s office plans to hold a press conference to provide details about the arrests and charges.
Recently, eight more men have accused Jeffries’ staff of involvement in sexual exploitation incidents between 2009 and 2015, as reported by BBC last month.
