Review of Diesel x Damiano David Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Glenn Martens with Photographer Senio Zapruder and model Damiano David
Diesel celebrates the launch of its special collaboration with Damiano David in a new campaign starring the man himself, shot by photographer Senio Zapruder.
The singer and Måneskin frontman, who also just launched his solo career with two new singles, steps up his role as brand ambassador with a capsule co-created with the brand’s creative director Glenn Martens. The resulting collection of genderless designs injects personal flair and oversized volumes into some of Martens’ runway classics, from distressed denim and hybrid fabrics to slick leather sets. Shirts and second-skin sheer tops feature a one-to-one print of the singer’s tattoos, which, when worn over his own torso, creates a striking and strangely cool layered effect.
Zapruder’s simple portraits let this collection and the personality that inspired it do the talking, taking a straightforward look at David’s sensuality and bravado. The images are finished off with a reworked logo that features the singer’s signature crawled across Diesel’s typical red and white block. The accompanying video extends the brand’s grungy lo-fi aesthetic while offering more character-filled shots of the collection’s details in motion.
The first co-designed collection marks an exciting new chapter in Diesel’s creative and commercial growth. In addition to being an Italian star with major international popularity, Damiano David also feels like a smart choice for embodying Diesel’s distinct take on fearless personal style and a new vision of gender and masculinity. Fresh, daring, and focused, the campaign is a strong way to introduce this new collaborative vision to the world.
