Review of Versace “Medusa Biggie” Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographer and Director Rosie Marks with models Sabrina Carpenter and Alexandre Sarr
Versace carries a style legacy forward for a new generation with its latest eyewear campaign. Spotlighting the Biggie glasses as reintrepreted by two major young talents, the campaign was shot by photographer Rosie Marks.
Named for the legendary rapper who turned them into an icon, the Biggie sunglasses continue to endure. The campaign carries this spirit forward by tapping two moment-defining cultural forces of their own: pop mega-sensation Sabrina Carpenter and French basketball player Alexandre Sarr, currently in his first season in the NBA.
“I am thrilled to have Sabrina and Alexandre join our Versace family in their fabulous Biggie glasses,” shared Donatella Versace. “From Notorious BIG to the extraordinary talent of today, the Biggie community are rebels, groundbreakers and champions of the true Versace spirit.”
Marks captures the stars in simple portraiture as they rock the shades, emphasizing the dual perspectives of incorporating an icon into an individual style while nodding to creative legacy and community. The reflections in their glasses, however, evoke subtly surreal scenes, pointing a subtle sense of narrative and individual stories that deepens the seemingly simple portraiture.
A series of short videos extends the spirit of refined yet distinctive glamor, emphasizing considered design details while seeing the talented individuals from new angles.
Wisely extending an iconic style legacy by partnering with the taste-making icons of today, Versace underlines its enduring spirit of bold style.
