A Collaboration Rooted in Utility and Imagination, from Orchard to Atelier
Moncler’s latest collaboration with multi-hyphenate creative Donald Glover is a playful yet refined take on farmwear. The concept for the partnership with the actor, writer, and musician was first unveiled during Moncler’s 2024 City of Genius showcase in Shanghai—now, a new Instagram video and imagery reveal more of the brand’s creative vision. Envisioning a lush orange grove as a creative incubator, the promotional media draws to mind cultivation and abundance.
The collection isn’t only built for style; it’s practical as well. Inspired by Glover’s Gilga Farm, the Ojai, California headquarters of his Gilga creative agency and production company where he and staff also harvest produce and feed cattle, the workwear line blends utility and creativity. There’s quilted vests, double-zip work shirts, and chore coats in fresh orange and peach tones, chic enough for daily wear but easy to get to work in. An embroidered bucket hat protects from the sun on the street and the farm.
Moncler seamlessly combines Glover’s creative touch and likeness (which appears in its animated form on patches that adorn several of the pieces) with its own heritage. The hero piece, a puffer that transforms into a sleeping bag, is inspired by one of the first products Moncler produced, a sleeping bag. The result is a collection that feels both grounded and imaginative. Moncler meets Gilga, somewhere between the orchard rows and the dreamscape.
