Forget the glass slipper, Diesel and Melissa give us something even better– an elevated take on the iconic jelly sandal
Diesel has partnered with Melissa, the creator of the original jelly shoe, to make a glass slipper of their own. This new design is sharp, futuristic, and fun. Collaborating with Melissa to produce a shoe in the jelly category was a genius move—because no one does it better. When you think of the classic jelly sandal from the ’90s and early 2000s, it was this Brazilian brand that defined the look. Together, Diesel and Melissa have released three sustainable “jelly” shoe designs.
All styles are made with Melissa’s signature material, Melflex®, a flexible PVC that is both recyclable and cruelty-free. Melissa has long been committed to sustainable manufacturing: the company has been 100% cruelty-free since 2017 and powered entirely by renewable energy since 2018, with new eco-friendly initiatives being rolled out continuously. Paired with Diesel’s mantra, “For Responsible Living,” the two brands make a great pair.
This collaboration is a tremendous response to the cries of consumers. It’s a fresh spin on something vintage, sustainably made, undeniably cool, and backed by two iconic brand names. It checks every box: nostalgia, innovation, sustainability, and style. It also reflects both brands’ personalities and visions. It’s fresh, funky, and walks the line between trendy and unique.
The line features three distinct styles: the Quantum Thong, Quantum Platform, and Quantum Sneaker X, each a creative reinterpretation of a popular silhouette. The classic Diesel “D” is stamped into Melissa’s iconic translucent jelly soles, available in a wide range of shades.
Cinderella might lose her slipper again—but at least now it’s recyclable.
