Saint Laurent Supports Claire Denis’ “The Fence”

Saint Laurent Productions Backs Claire Denis’ “The Fence” at New York Film Festival 2025

Saint Laurent Productions, under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello, continues its support of auteur cinema with The Fence, the latest film by acclaimed French director Claire Denis. The project will premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival.

Directed by Denis and presented by Vixens, Curiosa Films, and Saint Laurent Productions, The Fence unfolds within the stark confines of a West African construction site, where the arrival of a stranger triggers a tense and haunting confrontation. Isaach de Bankolé, Matt Dillon, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Tom Blyth lead the cast in a tightly drawn narrative centered around grief, power, and moral reckoning.

The film follows Horn, a site manager, and Cal, a young engineer, as they navigate a long night of psychological unravelling when a man named Alboury appears at their compound fence, demanding the return of his brother’s body. As tensions escalate, Leone—Horn’s new bride—witnesses the unraveling of their fragile order.

Claire Denis, known for her meditative yet confrontational cinema, brings decades of artistic depth to the work. Her previous films, including Beau Travail, High Life, and Stars at Noon, have earned recognition across Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, and Locarno. The Fence reunites Denis with long-time cinematographer Agnès Godard and continues her ongoing examination of colonial legacies and human complexity.

Produced by Vixens, Curiosa Films, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, Goodfellas, and Arte France Cinéma, The Fence adds another compelling chapter to the fashion house’s growing cinematic portfolio—where creative direction and film production continue to intersect.
