ACBC and Missoni Create An Eco-Friendly Soul

The 90S Make A Comback With A Sustainable Sneaker

The two Made in Italy companies continue their eco-friendly partnership of dynamic colours, bringing the iconic 90s back to life with a blast from the past.

Milan, 2 February 2022 – ACBC, the Milanese company that specialises in the design and production of sustainable footwear, and Missoni, the iconic Italian fashion and design brand, reconfirm their partnership based on shared values, expertise, technical skill and environmental awareness, adding a limited edition vintage piece to their collection.

History and tradition combine with sustainability and an ethical approach in the new Basket ’90 shoes, inspired by a timeless treasure from the vaults of the Varese haute couture company. The Milanese start-up company has added technology and expertise to a conscious choice of raw materials to succeed in maintaining the distinctive DNA of the brand founded by the Missoni family, giving new life to a much-loved designer artifact.

The unisex Basket model from the sneakers collection, in both low and high versions, features some unmistakeable signature marks from the knitwear maestros: bright colours, the logo and the famous graphic Missoni zigzag pattern are key details along with sustainable materials carefully selected by ACBC. The product, entirely Made in Italy, offers uppers made from fruit peelings while the inner lining and heel are made with recycled plastic bottles. The sole, completely customised to this project, is in rubber and corn-derived materials to guarantee the shoe’s circularity and ensure lower environmental impact.

Ethics, aesthetics, innovation and history all merge to show how designer fashion and environmental respect can live hand-in-hand, resulting in the creation of a great quality accessory that fully complies with the needs of our planet.
