Review of Acne Studios “Acne People” Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographer Thomas Lohr with model Maddie Ziegler
Acne Studios continues its “Acne People” portrait campaign series, with its latest installment featuring Maddie Ziegler. The actor and dance icon was captured by photographer Thomas Lohr.
Lohr captures Ziegler in the eclectically layered textures of Acne’s Spring 2024 collection. Digitally cutting out her silhouette, the images have no other elements except for model and clothing, taking studio minimalism to an extreme that feels ironically anti-stylish, and thus very stylish.
The brand’s long-standing Acne People is more of a hashtag than a campaign, a loosely continuous, multi-platform digital activation that is continuously expanding the community of the brand, whether through imagery of front-row runway guests or more direct in-studio images such as these. While each installment isn’t amazing on its own, taken together, the eclectic guest list – which has included Rihanna, Bladee, Suzanne Ciani, and more – make up an impressive tapestry of creative leaders who emblemize Acne Studios’ idiosyncratic style excellence.
