Review of Acne Studios Spring 2025 Ad Campaign by Photographer Talia Chetrit with model Charli XCX
Brat summer may have come to an end, but Acne Studios and Charli XCX show that the cultural force isn’t a one season thing. The pop icon was captured by photographer Talia Chetrit for the brand’s Spring 2025 campaign.
Chetrit’s intimate portraits explore a more vulnerable – but still defiant and effortlessly cool – side of the singer. Captured outdoors in natural light, Charli poses with casual sensuality, in many of the images appearing topless with strategic camera angles and positioning of the season’s signature bags keeping things just covered enough. But rather than feel overtly sexualized, the presence of nudity speaks more to being comfortable and confident in one’s own skin. The presence of bare skin also creates a delicate tension with the expressionistically painted denim, a kind of stylish contrast between maximalism and minimalism.
Part of what made Brat so resonant was its playfully provocative perspective of self-empowerment. By teaming with Charli XCX and extending this energy, Acne Studios wisely taps into that spirit of fearless individual expression. But this isn’t anything new for Acne Studios; the brand has always been boldly idiosyncratic and eclectic, and has done smart work to team with eclectic talents who embody and extend that world. This latest campaign chapter aligns that creative practice with the pop cultural conversation for a star-powered, digitally impactful manifesto of unabashed personal style.
