Review of Alaïa “Dialogue 3” Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Pieter Mulier and Photographer Katja Rahlwes
Alaïa launches the third incarnation of its Dialogues collaboration series, a curatorial conversation lensed by photographer Katja Rahlwes.
Continuing the artful approach to cross-discipline collaboration of its previous Dialogues, this latest chapter sees the house partner with with six of Paris’ most prominent design galleries: Galerie Jacques Lacoste, Galerie Kiyama, Galerie Kreo, Galerie Maxime Flatry, Galerie Patrick Seguin, Galerie Vallois.
Seeing creative director Pieter Muliter’s Le Teckel as a design object anchored in a tradition of French craft, Rahlwes’ imagery situates the handbag in conversation with distinctive examples of 20th-century design. At each gallery, it appears alongside carefully selected pieces, from mingling with modernist vases to perching atop a glass-top coffee table or an angular wooden sofa. Each context offers a new perspective on the bag while further emphasizing its own distinctive design character.
Alaïa’s dialogues take a unique and smart approach to emphasizing the scope and caliber of the brand’s luxury universe. From partnering with cabaret performers to celebrating the uniting power of beautiful food and now with this multifaceted exploration of the curator’s eye for the power of design, each collaborative chapter unveils a new creative facet of Pieter Mulier’s vision for the brand.
