Alessandro Vigilante Is the New Designer at Rochas

Rochas Names Alessandro Vigilante as Creative Director for Ready-to-Wear

Italian designer Alessandro Vigilante steps into the role of creative director for ready-to-wear at Rochas, following stints at esteemed fashion houses like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. His introduction to Rochas began quietly last May, contributing to the brand’s Spring 2024 collection initiated by the studio.

Vigilante’s inaugural collection is set for a grand reveal during Paris Fashion Week in February 2024, signaling a return to the runway by September of that year. Philippe Bénacin, chairman and CEO of Interparfums, expressed confidence in Vigilante’s grasp of the brand’s essence and his ability to redefine it while upholding its fundamental values of elegance, audacity, and femininity.

Described as a “voracious consumer of art,” Vigilante aims to infuse his vision into Rochas, cherishing the maison’s dedication to French sophistication and celebrating womanhood. His appointment follows Charles de Vilmorin, as Vigilante continues to helm his eponymous label, debuted at Milan Fashion Week in 2021.

Founded in 1925, Rochas, under various creative directions, now places Vigilante at the helm, entrusted to enhance the brand’s rich heritage. Bénacin underscores the importance of Rochas’ fashion legacy, even though fragrances currently dominate the brand’s revenue stream, aiming for a significant retail presence globally. With plans for a new fragrance in 2025, coinciding with the brand’s centenary, Rochas embraces a future grounded in its timeless legacy and renewed creative vision.
