Alexander Wang serves deadly aquatic mystery with its Spring 2023 campaign by photographer Steven Klein.

Perhaps drawing visual and conceptual inspiration from the underwater photoshoot episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race (a classic!), the campaign imagery sees model Jade Hsu pose in an aquarium with an octopus in an ominously lit warehouse, suggesting a narrative of sci-fi experimentation and trans-humanist futurism.

The accompanying short film pushes the mood of darkly aquatic metamorphosis with an eerie soundtrack, strobe lights, and shots of the (prosthetic, but impressively crafted) octopus in motion.

The aquatic theme is a fitting approach for the collection, which makes use of fabrics and constructions typically utilized for swimwear in new ways, applying them to luxe party dresses and slinky silhouettes.
