The former president will lead global strategy and operations
Altuzarra has appointed Marta Lastra as chief executive officer, effective immediately, formalizing a leadership transition as the brand enters a new phase of growth.

Lastra, who has served as president since January 2025, succeeds founder and creative director Joseph Altuzarra, who had assumed the CEO role following the departure of Shira Sue Carmi in late 2024. In her new position, Lastra will oversee the company’s global strategy, operations, and continued expansion.
Since joining the New York-based label, Lastra has played a central role in strengthening its operational and strategic framework. As president, she oversaw core business functions and supported the expansion of Altuzarra’s retail footprint, including a new store in Houston’s River Oaks District and a seasonal pop-up in Dallas’ Highland Park Village.
“Marta has been an exceptional leader and partner,” said Joseph Altuzarra. “Her deep understanding of the business, combined with her strategic mindset and operational expertise, has been invaluable to the company. As Altuzarra continues to grow, I am excited to focus more fully on the creative vision of the brand while working closely with Marta as she leads the company into its next chapter.”
Lastra described the appointment as a pivotal moment for the brand. “Altuzarra has built a strong foundation rooted in creativity, craftsmanship, and a loyal global customer base,” she said.
I look forward to partnering with Joseph to scale the business, strengthen our market positioning, and drive sustainable, long-term growth.”
Lastra previously held roles as chief operating officer and vice president of studio operations at Altuzarra, and earlier worked at Ralph Lauren and Loewe.
The leadership shift signals a more defined separation between creative and executive responsibilities, allowing Altuzarra to focus on design while Lastra leads the business through its next stage of development.
