The Chinese Pianist Is the Latest Musician to Create a Playlist for the Project
Starting December 12th, 2024, Balenciaga Music will feature an original playlist curated by acclaimed pianist Wu Muye, marking him as the first Chinese artist to participate in this initiative. The playlist will showcase a diverse selection of Muye’s musical inspirations and favorites across various genres including classical, rock, jazz, and hip-hop. It will also feature a track from his latest album, ‘Destiny’. This curated selection will be accessible globally through multiple streaming platforms such as QQ Music, Apple Music, and Spotify, with a dedicated page on balenciaga.com directing listeners.
In conjunction with the playlist’s debut, Muye is set to begin his worldwide tour with an opening concert at the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall on December 15th. Muye, who began his musical training at the age of four and later pursued advanced studies in Paris under Jacques Rouvier, has earned international acclaim and numerous awards for his performances and cultural impact. Noteworthy among his accolades is the Perfect Piano Performing Artist Medal from the French Ministry of Culture, distinguishing him as the first Chinese pianist to receive this honor.
Known for his ability to bridge Asian and European musical traditions, Muye has performed at numerous prestigious international venues and ceremonies, bringing a fresh interpretation to classical compositions by Liszt, Schubert, Chopin, and Beethoven.
The launch of the special playlist is being promoted with a visually striking campaign directed by Lucca Lutzky, capturing Muye in a serene beachside setting as he plays the piano.
