Spring 2020 Ad Campaign


Balenciaga Creative Director Demna Gvasalia and Photographer Laurence Chaperon have released a Spring 2020 campaign with political slogans and a diverse cast. For people who wish to see prominent corporate entities using their media outlets to promote positive change, it doesn’t get much better than this.

The concept is simple yet powerful; gather together a group of models that are diverse and inclusive, photograph them in a studio setting wearing clothes from the most recent collection, and add slogans that will inspire people to get out and vote for what they believe in. To be more specific, the slogans suggest the following: “Think Big”, “Power of Dreams”, “Love Is For Everyone” and “We Vote For Tomorrow”. Much wisdom is encapsulated within these short phrases. Thinking big, and the power of dreams gain a wealth of meaning when paired with a group of people who are diverse in age, gender, skin tone, and presumably sexual orientation (an assumption based on one of the other slogans, “Love is for Everyone”). The combination of these elements effectively champions the idea of human rights for all, no matter the demographic. Additionally “We Vote For Tomorrow” reminds people that their actions in the present will affect future generations, their children and grandchildren or those of their friends and family, as the case may be. This encourages accountability without making any false, misleading or hypocritical claims. Hopefully the public will takes these messages to heart, especially those in power positions within large corporations, government institutions, and major media outlets. More power to the people! And if you have it, please use it wisely.
