Soho location debuts exclusive red “Lucent Love” capsule collection
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Bao Bao Issey Miyake will open its first U.S. flagship at 126 Prince Street in New York City. Located at the intersection of Prince and Wooster Streets in Soho, the store marks the brand’s only standalone retail location outside of Asia and signals its broader global expansion strategy.
The retail space spans 513 square feet with 44 feet of street frontage. It was designed by Japanese studio Moment and is intended to reflect the brand’s design principles in a compact format. The concept draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese irori, a communal space centered around a hearth, reimagined here as a ceiling-mounted light fixture that serves both functional and symbolic roles.
The central light installation doubles as a presentation area, designed to encourage customer engagement. Surrounding this focal point, the store will display Bao Bao’s full range of geometric bags and accessories in an environment defined by plaster walls and an aluminum table featuring custom hammered metalwork. The materials aim to reflect the brand’s focus on tactile quality and structural detail.
To coincide with the opening, Bao Bao will release a store-exclusive capsule titled “Lucent Love.” The monochromatic red series includes a tote, crossbody bag, pouch, and other items. Promotional visuals depict the Lucent bag folded into the shape of a red heart, representing the brand’s welcome to New York.
