Berluti’s Pre-spring 2019 ad campaign from Creative Director Kris Van Assche, Photographer Ronan Gallagher, Director Nicolas Santos, and Director of Photography/Editor Stini Röhrs provides proof that sometimes it is best not to overthink things. The film has an unusual vertical aspect ratio, and clocks in at a mere 17 seconds, but it accomplishes a lot in a short amount of time. Focusing in on two young men and a vintage car, the film effectively showcases shoes, shirting, suiting, and an embossed leather bag in a straight-forward, un-fussy way that is typical of the brand. The still photography layers in saturated color pop, and the appealingly odd repetition of white-haired bearded gentlemen and brunette business women, marching stoically to work in the background. Unpretentious and spare, the ad campaign is a great example that in some cases, less really is more.
