Seasonal Showcase Celebrates Artisans Rooted In Venice And Surrounding Regions
For the fourth consecutive year, Bottega Veneta is launching its “Bottega for Bottegas” initiative, a seasonal tribute to artisanal craftsmanship. This year’s showcase focuses on six small-scale artisans from Venice and nearby regions, highlighting the brand’s Venetian roots and dedication to craft.
Throughout December, Bottega Veneta’s website, newsletters, advertising spaces, and store windows will spotlight creations from Fonderia Artistica Valese, Signor Blum, Modiano, Laguna~B, Bruno Amadi, and Wave Murano Glass. The featured items include brass objects, wooden puzzles, glassware, and a set of leather-encased playing cards, each reflecting the rich culture and heritage of Venice.
Several of the designs pay direct homage to Venetian history. Signor Blum’s wooden puzzle depicts classic Venetian architecture, while Modiano’s Trevigiane playing cards, also known as the Venetian deck, are used in traditional regional games like Scopa and Briscola. Fonderia Artistica Valese captures Venice’s symbolic imagery with brass objects such as the winged lion and the gondola’s distinctive fero, representing the city’s islands, sestieri, and Rialto Bridge.
Murano glass artisans LagunaB, Bruno Amadi, and Wave Murano Glass contribute innovative works to the initiative, blending centuries-old techniques with modern patterns and designs. Highlights include LagunaB’s vibrantly striped vases and Bruno Amadi’s intricate starfish creations, showcasing the evolution of Murano glassmaking.
Launched in 2021 during the pandemic to support small-scale artisans, “Bottega for Bottegas” has become an annual event celebrating craftsmanship. In its first year, the initiative featured artisans from across Italy. Subsequent editions included global participants drawing on Italian influences, with last year’s selection highlighting craft traditions from Italy, Taiwan, China, and South Korea.
This year’s collection underscores Bottega Veneta’s commitment to craft and innovation while anchoring its inspiration in the Venetian culture that defines the brand’s identity. The initiative’s focus on local artisans continues to honor and elevate the legacy of regional craftsmanship during the festive season.
