The Brand Pushes Signature Summer Accessories Amid News About Its Financial Difficulties
Burberry has launched Burberry Summer, a collection featuring its famous checks and equestrian knight design, applied to swimwear, T-shirts, dresses, bags, and beach towels. The launch invests in more accessible pieces and looks forward to sunnier times, as the British brand is currently battling financial difficulties in its rebranding process.
Burberry’s top-selling items last year were scarves, outerwear, and signature raincoats. The brand is now reviving trenchcoats with summer-inspired designs from the archive, featuring belted waists and iridescent finishes. Additionally, the brand is promoting its footwear and eyewear line, including naked sandals, leather sneakers, espadrille wedge heels, and cat-eyed sunglasses.
The campaign images for Burberry Summer were shot in Ibiza and Jamaica, with friends of designer Daniel Lee featured in the photographs captured by Harley Weir and Marie Valognes.
Despite a 4 percent decline in revenue and a 34 percent decrease in adjusted operating profit, Burberry continues its efforts in a challenging luxury market, with revenue remaining flat in the 12-month period ended March 30.
